Prayer for Harmony House
To all who can pray, the first Saturday evening of each month (beginning September 3 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at ECF) will be a time to pray for the ministry of Harmony House. In Matthew 26:40, Jesus asks His disciples, “Could you not watch with me one hour …” We are asking the same for those who might be willing.
You will learn about the ministry and its needs and be able to pray for specific men, women and children who are dealing with issues of incarceration. It will also be a time for anyone wish to learn more about how they might begin to serve in a very challenging arena.
Here’s a chance to find out first-hand about the work that Glenn and Ann Feidner are doing.

Coming this summer: ECF Life Connection
More than just small groups, the ECF Life Connection is a gathering of the church in community for discipleship, care and mission.
What are we looking to accomplish as a church? Here are three videos that explore different aspects of discipling one another, caring for each other and being on mission to our community.
April Sabbatical Update from Pastor Reid
Dear ECF Family:
As many of you sat this past Sunday (marking our second month away) listening to Al Sabel ably break God’s Word to you (something that is finally looking like we’ll be able to enjoy regularly – soon we hope!), Sky & I worshiped with other brothers and sisters in Christ – most pointedly missing you all. We longed to be “home”. We have enjoyed visiting these other churches, but have left each time longing for the familiar sights, sounds, faces and fellowship that make ECF the unique body it is. We miss you all terribly.
Not much has changed physically since last month. I continue to remain steady. The additional tests have shown that the Celiac’s is not as severe as it could be and the doctors are happy with the level of gluten avoidance I’ve been maintaining. And still, while there has not been any major upswing, I have begun walking again for some very moderate exercise, and we continue to chase down any other avenue that promises to give us additional insight or help. Pastor Reid’s Sabbatical Update
Dear ECF Family,
As I sit to write this today, it is March 15th, and exactly one month from the start of this sabbatical. Sky and I remain so grateful for your kindness and generosity in making it possible. We are in Texas at the moment – taking advantage of the largesse of a friend of Sky’s family in loaning us the use of their condo on Eagle Mountain Lake. This is not far from the lake property Sky’s family recently sold which used to serve as our old retreat. The weather has been beautiful and it is extremely restful here in a unique and most blessed way.
I can tell you that while the first month has gone quickly so far, it has not passed without benefit. Though perhaps not as much as we had hoped. The good news is, that last week – I stopped declining. There was a noticeable halt to what was a continuing digression. And so, while I have not made any gains as of yet, the fact that I am not slipping any further down is a gain of sorts – one for which I rejoice in gratitude for God’s goodness toward us.
Just before we left, I was subject to another blood test in trying to get a handle on the precise level of the Celiac’s involvement. We have not yet received those results, but I do find some relief in remaining gluten free. I believe that will part of my regimen going forward no matter what else may or may not prove to be a part of my entire condition. Read more …
New Wednesday Night “Foundations” Series Starts Nov. 16
Starting November 16, come join us on Wednesday nights for our next bible study series Foundations.
This Wednesday night series will be about 20 sessions covering basic Christian belief and teachings on such topics as Scripture, God, Salvation, and the Church. They are the most common topics one would find in any good Christian systematic theology book, or a typical church statement of faith. The schedule currently is that Pastors Reid, Ken, Ed and Scott will each take 2 Wednesday nights to present the basics of these topics.
The 16th, Pastor Ed starts us off with the 1st of 2 sessions on “What Christians Believe about the Bible.”
(complete schedule coming soon)
Extended Post-Worship Fellowship Time on Sunday Mornings
Starting Sunday, October 2, Evangelical Church of Fairport will now have the “church” room at Perinton Community Center for an additional hour each Sunday. So instead of having to be out of the room by noon, we can now stay until 1:00 p.m. every week! This additional hour does not include the nursery/child care room, however. It only applies to the three large rooms where we have our church service.
Hopefully this extended time will help all of us feel less rushed after the service, and be able to take our time fellowshipping with each other: talking to one another, praying for each other, and discussing the message and the Word at more length. We know this will be a big plus for the A/V/T (audio, visual, technology) and music teams who are so dedicated to putting away the equipment after service that they usually don’t get to “hang out” with anybody.
Porterbrook Network Comes to Rochester at ECF
We’re very excited at Evangelical Church of Fairport to be the 11th Learning Site in the U.S. for the Porterbrook Network.
Our first term begins January 2, 2012. Registration ends December 15, 2011.
For information about registration or more about the Porterbrook Network visit the Porterbrook ROC website, porterbrookROC.com.
Porterbrook Network is a two-year church-based theological training program with a supported self-study structure with others who are training in a similar field, church or geographic affiliation.
Steve Timmis and Tim Chester, co-authors of Total Church and founders of The Crowded House, created The Porterbrook Network in the U.K. in 2006 in response to a conviction for churches to become more Gospel-Centered and for new Gospel-Centered churches to be planted.
The vision of Porterbrook is to equip individuals and churches to rediscover mission as their DNA, to become better lovers of God and lovers of others, and to proclaim the Gospel through word and action for the Glory of God. Porterbrook is being used in the U.K., U.S., Canada, Italy, Ukraine, India, South Africa, and Australia, and Porterbrook Learning material is currently being translated into Chinese, Russian, and Italian.
