To all who can pray, the first Saturday evening of each month (beginning September 3 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at ECF) will be a time to pray for the ministry of Harmony House. In Matthew 26:40, Jesus asks His disciples, “Could you not watch with me one hour …” We are asking the same for those who might be willing.

You will learn about the ministry and its needs and be able to pray for specific men, women and children who are dealing with issues of incarceration. It will also be a time for anyone wish to learn more about how they might begin to serve in a very challenging arena.

Men in Service: Evangelical Church of Fairport’s 2012 Men of Valor Event

“MOVE” means Men Of Valor Event. It is our third year of offering motivational messages that offer opportunity for men to grow in their faith of our Lord, Jesus Christ. MOVE offers messages that will quicken the spirit of man to move according to HIS command and build up the body of Christ at the same time. We hope you will join us once again or if you are new, to feel welcome and be among men who are serious about their relationship with the one true God. We are excited to include local speakers from among many Pastors in our area.

MOVE will be held at Evangelical Church of Fairport, 38 East Church Street in Fairport, N.Y., on Saturday, March 17, 2012, from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Our speakers will be Pastor James Balson and Pastor Dave Theobald.

Starting November 16, come join us on Wednesday nights for our next bible study series Foundations.

This Wednesday night series will be about 20 sessions covering basic Christian belief and teachings on such topics as Scripture, God, Salvation, and the Church. They are the most common topics one would find in any good Christian systematic theology book, or a typical church statement of faith. The schedule currently is that Pastors Reid, Ken, Ed and Scott will each take 2 Wednesday nights to present the basics of these topics.

The 16th, Pastor Ed starts us off with the 1st of 2 sessions on “What Christians Believe about the Bible.”

Starting Sunday, October 2, Evangelical Church of Fairport will now have the “church” room at Perinton Community Center for an additional hour each Sunday. So instead of having to be out of the room by noon, we can now stay until 1:00 p.m. every week! This additional hour does not include the nursery/child care room, however. It only applies to the three large rooms where we have our church service.

Hopefully this extended time will help all of us feel less rushed after the service, and be able to take our time fellowshipping with each other: talking to one another, praying for each other, and discussing the message and the Word at more length. We know this will be a big plus for the A/V/T (audio, visual, technology) and music teams who are so dedicated to putting away the equipment after service that they usually don’t get to “hang out” with anybody.

We’re very excited at Evangelical Church of Fairport to be the 11th Learning Site in the U.S. for the Porterbrook Network.

Our first term begins January 2, 2012. Registration ends December 15, 2011.

Porterbrook Network is a two-year church-based theological training program with a supported self-study structure with others who are training in a similar field, church or geographic affiliation.

Steve Timmis and Tim Chester, co-authors of Total Church and founders of The Crowded House, created The Porterbrook Network in the U.K. in 2006 in response to a conviction for churches to become more Gospel-Centered and for new Gospel-Centered churches to be planted.

The vision of Porterbrook is to equip individuals and churches to rediscover mission as their DNA, to become better lovers of God and lovers of others, and to proclaim the Gospel through word and action for the Glory of God. Porterbrook is being used in the U.K., U.S., Canada, Italy, Ukraine, India, South Africa, and Australia, and Porterbrook Learning material is currently being translated into Chinese, Russian, and Italian.
