‘Shepherd the flock of God that is among you’ (1 Peter 5:1)
Rev. Reid A. Ferguson is the Senior Pastor and primary Preaching-Teaching Elder.
A native of Rochester, N.Y., Pastor Reid has served in various ministry areas during his life, including: a founding member of the former Mark IV Quartet, Youth Pastor at ECF, former board member of the Fellowship of Independent Reformed Evangelicals (FIRE), and author of The Little Book of Things You Should Know About Ministry (Christian Focus Publications, 2002). We are so blessed with Pastor Reid’s giftedness as an expositor of God’s Word week in and week out. His wife Sky (a native of Texas, y’all) is the perfect complement to Pastor Reid, and is a trained and certified Christian counselor in her own right. They have an adult daughter and son-in-law and two grandchildren. Pastor Reid blogs regularly at Responsive Reiding.
Rev. Ken Beaton: Pastor Ken is a native of Canada and a graduate of Zion Bible Institute (Rhode Island). Ken served in various ministry roles in other churches before coming to ECF, which makes him a valuable leader here. Ken teaches and preaches regularly at ECF, leads our monthly Wednesday night prayer meetings, and is sought after for pulpit supply in other churches. Ken is married to his ZBI sweetheart, Christine, and they have one adult son, Jonathan (JD). Pastor Ken works for the University of Rochester.
Scott Ferguson: Pastor Scott has done just about everything there is to do at ECF since coming here when his (and Reid’s) dad Ray took early retirement from Kodak to pastor ECF full-time. In addition to regular teaching and preaching, Scott also plays the trumpet with the music team. His wife Theresa (who met in college) is the church Administrator and Pastoral Administrative Assistant. They have one adult daughter, Amanda. Pastor Scott is a graduate of Nazareth College and works as a software engineer for IDI Billing Solutions, Inc.
Al Sabel: Pastor Al is our Associate Pastor. Al spent 43 years in a variety of engineering and management positions in several companies before engaging in the work of the ministry here at ECF. Born in the Rochester area, most of his career was with Xerox Corporation; however, his work has required a number of moves to different companies and states which provided for a good exposure to how different churches function as he and his wife Judy engaged in them after moving. Serving as a lay-elder in four different churches since 1978 has provided an opportunity for Al to grow in teaching/preaching and administrative roles. Incorporating of all of these experiences has enabled Al to assume the Associate Pastor role at ECF since retiring from his engineering career in August 2012. Al and his wife Judy have been married for 45 years and have three adult children, all adopted from South Korea.
Dr. Brian Smith: Pastor Brian is a medical doctor (oncology) and also attends to the well-being of the souls here at ECF. Brian leads us in congregational prayer during our Sunday morning service and has been a regular adult Sunday School teacher for almost 30 years. Steeped in God’s Word, he capably ministers to our souls. Pastor Brian is married to Trish, and they have 11 children and several grandchildren. Pastor Brian is also an avid woodworker and enjoys do-it-yourself home improvement.
Ed Trefzger: Pastor Ed takes great care and passion in overseeing Missions, Outreach and Evangelism for ECF. In addition to regular teaching/preaching at ECF he also fills the pulpit at other area churches. Ed worked as a mechanical engineer for 14 years at General Motors — starting as a co-op while still an undergrad at RIT — prior to beginning a career in web development as a freelancer. In addition to web development work, Ed also is the CTO of an internet streaming media startup, heads up technology for college hockey website USCHO.com and is the publisher of a weekly music industry publication, JazzWeek. Ed is also heard on the radio as the play-by-play voice of RIT men’s hockey. Pastor Ed blogs regularly at This Mystery.
**Note: Only Pastors Reid and Al are vocational (paid) pastors at ECF. The others are non-vocational and work outside the church for a living.
